Nicolas Ghent, MScOT, Reg. (Ont.)

Occupational Therapist

Born and raised in Ottawa, Nick fittingly is a graduate from both the University of Ottawa’s Master’s of Occupational Therapy program, as well as Carleton University’s Honours Bachelor of Health Sciences.

Nick worked primarily in hospital settings over a 10 year period and discovered a passion for providing care in health and wellbeing during crisis. More recently, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Nick began to understand the many strengths & limitations of hospital-based care, and noticed the way different people would face different
challenges based on their every lived experience. Nick then found Occupational Therapy as a special opportunity to support all kinds of people in restoring their everyday joy and purpose.

With a deep sense of care for OT, Nick began working with children, adults, older adults, and family units during his education. He assumed a particular focus in life impacted by anxieties, substance use, mental health difficulties, school day and family-life challenges, system-level issues, learning and coordination struggles,
traumatic life circumstances, immigrant and refugee experiences, personal identity journeys, and transitions throughout the lifespan. Nick primarily has experience teaching and using: motivational interviewing & coaching, mindfulness, self-regulation, coping & distress tolerance, arts/music-integrated therapy, meaningful activity
integration, advocacy & ecoconsciousness skills, executive functioning skills, and social skills.

Beyond the work, Nick is a lifelong learner who makes it a mission to discover something new every week. He loves listening to new music artists, learning to play new songs, learning new languages, story writing, playing video & board games with friends, reading books, spending time with loved ones, trying new recipes, and watching old movies. Nick envisions a safe and welcoming practice around him, and works hard to help clients design their own pathway to good quality, dignified and successful living.
